Long, slippery waterfall tramping trip at the head of the Waiorogomai Valley. Only 4 pitches with lots of river walking in between.
A long bush bash up the second branch of the Tairua river to chase the scratchy information from local rockclimbers of “an impassable gorge with big waterfalls” led to a rather small “gorge” with low flows and only one waterfall. Not worth a repeat visit. However the local rock climbing is meant to be of high quality (including established climbers camp)
