Awesome waterfall tramping trip. Beautiful scenery and great swimming and jumping.

On the DC TL 1.5m! near the start, there is a nice chock that’d hold a piece of webbing and a mallion. I used a 8mm rope threaded double strand tied so it was retrievable. All party members got down no issues using it as a handline including myself until the rope got pinched when trying to free it from the bottom. Fortunately a foot sized ledge TL at shoulder height from pool could be used in combination with the rope to get down. I freed the rope from the top and dropped it down to the group as I knew I’d be able to downclimb it somehow. After a couple minutes of busting out as many bouldering stances and tactics I could think of, I had the simple idea of using the groups shoulders to stand on which worked brilliantly.

    FOR THE NEXT GROUP:
I’d suggest the next group brings a 1-2m piece of webbing to leave permanantly in the canyon as it’d remove the chance of this happening to anyone else. The chock is only the size of say a mandarin but it seems super wedged and we sent our whole group off this one chock with zero movement. If possibly a mallion or similar would be great too to easily allow for biner block or similar.

All other drops were managable without any gear. Make sure to check all jumps as the tannins can and did create a false sence of security.

We did this canyon 9 December 2017. Everything was pretty much as per the description. One down climbs (2-3m) near the start was quite tricky and some members abseiled but taller members of the group were able to down climb it. The distinctive mossy rock may no longer be present as no group members noticed it. (There was extensive flooding in the region earlier this year)
