  1. Alistair says:

Lovely trip. Ended up approaching up the main spur to the West of the one on the topo. Probably no difference. Replaced webbing on some of the anchors. Would suggest ghosting some trees with a fiddlestick as a potential option for some raps.

R7 – original tree anchor may have been lost in a tree slide/slip on the TL. Still passable.

R8 – would not attempt the jump listed on the topo. Waist-deep where I rapped in.

Final jump – two pairs of bolts in place. Great to leave a fixed line and repeat the jumps. TR anchor lower bolt is a little loose.

Beware when jumping with low flow in the buller – you need to get well away from the cliffs to avoid touching the sandy riverbed.

To exit, I swam about 150m downstream (watch the big eddy on the TR that pushes you back upstream), exiting right onto a sandy beach by two giant carved builders that look like modern art. Just past these is a super obvious track straight back to the roadside.

Replaced R6’s maillon anchor with a ring, hopefully will lessen risk of stuck rope. Pretty awesome trip even for intermediate canyoners. Could be spicy with higher flows

We gave White Creek a bit of refreshment by changing all slings anchors.
Took us longer than expected due to filming . But overall nice trip, and the 50 is definitely a goodie 🙂
You can count a good 15/20 min from the bottom of the 50m back to road.

    Update 1/1/20
Great scenic little canyon! Last two pitches have double bolted anchors on both TL & TR. Perhaps this is being used as a training venue? Overkill nonetheless.
Bombs into the Buller was the perfect way to start 2020,

Somehow managed to leave behind one Uniden pocket 2 way radio, a hat, a black 120cm sling and carabiner on 9/1/19!! If you find them and are feeling well disposed towards those with attention impairment, please give me a ring on 0275 346468, thanks. Great canyon!
