The Top Wairoa Hut sits directly between the two creeks and both gorges start just downstream of the hut. Grid references here. The gorges don’t seem to be too long and I bet they both can be done in a day. Pretty spot and a nice hut nearby could make it a
nice trip.

TL Gorge just a rock jumble, this is what the track follows.
TR gorge had one fantastic feature, 50m stacked waterfall broken into 2 equal pitches, descended via trees/bush bash on the TL as we weren’t carrying a drill. Would be a really nice little round trip from the hut if anyone was willing to walk the 8+ hours in with a drill
Main Wairoa river has the odd whitewater feature in normal/low flows and becomes dangerous to cross in high flows!!
