  1. José Javier Pintado Jalón says:

A nice and quick canyon, exactly as described in the guidebook. Completed in just 30 minutes. I was dropped off at the starting bridge and picked up at the end. I enjoyed the narrows and moved fast through the walking section. Rappelled from the bridge for “extra fun”.

    • Date -May 3, 2026
    • Water level -normal
    • Anchor conditions -All in good condition
    • Is the grade and star rating correct? -Yes, the single star is well-deserved. However, after scouting the other two descenses on the Tongariro River, if this canyon gets one star and the "rappel+floating" at Lower Tree Trunk Gorge gets two (undone but likely deserved), how is it possible that Waikato Falls Gorge only has one? It looks like an interesting descent, and it is definitely much more breathtaking/beautiful than Waikoko.
