Bartrum Creek can be thought of as Whirling Water’s little brother.
It is a great warm-up or first objective when arriving at the Waitaha Valley. Although significantly easier than its big brother, it is still a committing and technically challenging canyon.
Stunningly clear turquoise water has eroded steepsided schist walls into otherworldly, beautiful amphitheaters, separated by plenty of jumps, some fantastic slides, and some striking abseils landing in flushing pools. Several features in this canyon require deft ropework and efficient teamwork to safely navigate.

Super cool canyon well worth its stars.
Walk up is not super simple and requires some navigation.
Lower than normal flow going of the pics provided, no problem with water hazards.
Some fun jumps possible definitely worth doing if your in the valley.
