Camp Creek v4a3III* (grade pending until there are enough trip logs)

Max drop 15m. (at least 1x 60m recommended)

5hr total 1.5hr/3hr/30min approach/descent/return.

Public access

This is the lower half of the canyon: the top section is still unexplored!

Although the creek is mostly open and boulder-filled there are some abseils and short narrow sections. The flow is high but there are surprisingly few deep pools. There are better canyons on the West Coast, but it still makes for an enjoyable trip.

First descent: Ben Fletcher, Jeffrey Wise, Christan Miller. April 2023.

  1. Alistair says:

Not a bad day out, but the juicy bits are surrounded by a bit of boulder bashing. Almost all the main flow can be avoided with some careful abseiling should you wish. Accessed the top by walking down the stream crossing the path mentioned in the topo, then into the bush on the tl when it steepens.

Replaced anchors for r4 and r5, couldn’t find any other existing anchors. Left some webbing in places, ghosted other raps.
