Steep, low volume stream with about 10 rappels, a few jumps and a very scenic finish into the Burke Gorge. Unfortunately a bit slippery, which detracts a little from the descent.

Mix of bolts and natural anchors

  • 1h30m approach, enter at 340m, but more canyon likely to be found higher.
  • 5hr descent
  • 1hr return (via lower Burke Gorge)

    There’s some pink tape to follow, to do the approach easier. Then bushbashing to arrive to the top of the canyon.
    We started the trip in the 320 altitude without doing any abseil to enter the canyon.
    We think that the second abseil is 60 meters instead of 54.
    We didn’t find the anchors on the 45m abseil but we did an abseil from a tree on the TL.
    We did some of the jumps!!!
    Beatiful canyon, and amazing way to finish in the burke river, thanks to the openers!!!!
