Barrack Creek v5a4IV***

Barrack Creek is a steep, aquatic and vertical alpine descent. Polished rocks, deep green pools, the back-to-back nature of the waterfalls, and the fantastic end series of rappels make this a classic three-star canyon. Make sure you have suitable experience and a strong team.

The get-in series descended with 3 of the 4 pitches now rigged with 2-bolt anchor stations. The whole trip is now 19 pitches. Big day out, but well worth it. I have updated the CanyonTopo to reflect the changes. Some of the pools are getting deeper, so there is an opportunity for more jumps. A GPX file can now be downloaded for the walk-in.

Our second trip through Barracks. Found much better access. However, no getting around; it’s a long walk.
All the bolted anchors ex 2019 are in good condition. Almost all of the anchor sling was replaced; however, come prepared with your own.
The topo has been updated to reflect our experiences combined with another group that has been through recently.
    It’s a great outing, best-experienced mid-summer.
