80m

15 Pitches

10-12 hrs

700m of descent makes this one of the biggest trips in the North Island. A solid 3hr approach up a steep but well marked track and a “mini canyon ” (2 pitches) entry to the main river. Big waterfalls, Hanging re belays and wide expansive views. Mostly bolted, but very seldom visited with little natural anchor possibility. Would be wise to take enough anchor building gear to do the full descent as escape would be long and difficult in thick Te Urewera bush!
